Serving Our Neighbor
Shepherd of Life takes it's call to be the presence of Jesus for the world seriously. The motto for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, of which Shepherd of Life is a part, is "God's Work. Our Hands." This means that we have a responsibility to serve our neighbors and communities as God would--God has no hands but ours!
We fulfill this mission by doing service projects for Helping Our People in Elsinore (H.O.P.E.), a local food pantry. We also give out Thanksgiving baskets for families who can't afford all the trappings of a holiday feast. Around Christmas, we put up an Angel Tree and buy gifts for children who might otherwise go without Christmas morning. Along with these standard efforts, we seek to support individuals and groups when a need is discovered. We are blessed to be blessings for all!
